IPSA’s mission

Train top-level aeronautical and space engineers committed to a sustainable world

IPSA’s primary mission is to provide its students with a solid foundation of scientific, technical and human skills, enabling them to become professionals capable of:
– Designing, modeling and piloting complex systems
– Innovating in a constantly changing technological environment
– Responding to the climatic, energy and societal challenges of their time.

A mission to serve an ambition:

Make every IPSAlian an engineer capable of designing a more responsible, intelligent and open future.

A company with a mission

Keen to support the transformation of the aeronautical sector linked to the ecological transition, and aware of its social and environmental implications, IPSA, École d’ingénieurs de l’air, de l’espace et de la mobilité durable, changed its legal status in 2021, adopting the status of Société à Mission.

the aeronautics and space school

The opening up of space and the world of the stars to human activity, thanks to technological progress, has made Icarus’ dream a reality. This immense human progress mobilizes techniques, intelligence and resources, but above all the skills of top-level engineers. Yet the challenges posed by the depletion of traditional resources and the need to protect the environment are placing even greater demands on the spirit of innovation and initiative.

The adaptation of aeronautical techniques to other means of mobility justifies this complex, multi-disciplinary and demanding apprenticeship. IPSA’s raison d’être is built on an inventive and constantly renewed pedagogical project, and the same determination to ensure the success of its students and learners by unleashing their intelligence, creativity and energy.

Through its various courses, IPSA trains daring, creative and innovative engineers and engineering assistants who have a human, ethical and societal responsibility: to provide a global response to future developments in the aeronautics, space and new mobility industries that integrates and maximizes environmental protection and sustainable development.

In October 2023, all of IPSA’s commitments were audited for the first time by an independent third-party organization (ITO), to judge the conformity of the transformation work accomplished, as well as the feasibility of the objectives set. IPSA is proud to announce that the auditors confirmed the coherence and validity of the school’s Mission, and underlined the strong commitment of its staff. The success of this audit reinforces IPSA’s ambition to train aeronautical and space engineers who will become key players in this energy transition.

By adopting the status of a company with a mission, IPSA is pursuing these objectives:

Program adaptation

Educate and train faculty, students and staff to understand and integrate societal and environmental issues into their professional lives.

Responsible research projects
Responsible research projects

Encourage the integration of energy efficiency, the use of clean energies and, more generally, an environmental dimension into research projects.

Evolution of campus management
Evolution of campus management

To encourage the various aspects of environmental protection and the reduction of its ecological footprint to be taken into account in the management of its campuses.

More inclusive social policy
More inclusive social policy

Pursue a social policy designed to encourage diversity in the origins and social backgrounds of its students, and promote gender equality and quality of life among both students and employees.

Sustainable Aviation Observatory (OAD)

At a time when the air transport industry is firmly committed to the green shift, forward-looking studies on decarbonization in the sector are sometimes difficult to understand, analyze and compare. They can give rise to divergent interpretations among the various stakeholders.

The Sustainable Aviation Observatory (SAO) was created to make data on the climatic impact of air transport accessible in a single location. The Observatory’s raison d’être is to open up and share knowledge. In the field of decarbonization, it helps to shed light on the network of French innovation initiatives in the territories.
